Hubble Space Telescope Papercraft

The Hubble Space Telescope (HST) is a telescope in orbit around the Earth, named after astronomer Edwin Hubble. Its position outside the Earth's atmosphere provides significant advantages over ground-based telescopes — images are not blurred by the atmosphere, there is no background from light scattered by air, and the Hubble can observe ultra-violet light that is normally absorbed by the ozone layer in observations made from Earth. Since its launch in 1990, it has become one of the most important instruments in the history of astronomy.

Make your very own hand-held Hubble telescope model. There are three levels of difficulties. The easiest is the PVC model which will require PVC pipes. The second is a paper model with 3o pieces of parts. Last but not the least is an expert papermodel with 300 pieces of parts that will require 30 hours to build. You have the option of also assembling the internal structure of the telescope, including the mirror and the instrument bay, which fits inside the external shell.
