Calabash Brothers Papercraft - Big Brother

Calabash Brothers PapercraftThis is Big Brother, he is a character from a late 80s Chinese animation series called Calabash Brothers (aka Bottle Gourd Brothers, aka Hulu Brothers, aka Seven Brothers). The story is 13 episodes long and follows the adventures of 7 siblings who battle demons and spirits.

There are seven brothers in total, each bearing a different color of the rainbow (red, orange, yellow, green, cyan, blue, & purple), but we've only got the Big Brother papercraft which is red.

Big Brother is the oldest of the siblings, has super-strength and can grow into a giant. Fortunately for us, this paper model isn't a giant and only comes in a 3 page pattern. Created by Modelworks.cn and Cardmodel.cn

2008 Olympic Papercrafts

With the XXIX Olympiad (Beijing 2008 Olympic Games) being marred by global protests due to China's worsening track record on human rights, Epson Hong Kong has focused on the positive side and commissioned these inspiring Olympic papercrafts from designer Chan See Lik Paul. The set includes six simple (rowing, pole vault, cycling/group, sailing, equestrian) paper models and three impressive (weight lifting, archery, kayak slalom) ones. Other cute papercrafts from the same designer can be found on the related links below.

Chinese New Year Papercrafts

For the past few weeks we've had a lot of posts about Chinese New Year papercrafts, well today's the big day, it's officially Chinese New Year 2008 or also known in some parts of the world as Lunar New Year. As people around the world celebrate this traditional Chinese holiday, here's a list of previous related posts plus a new one. If you're not aware, this year is the Year of the Rat according to the Chinese Zodiac, so most of the links below would be related to the tailed one. We'll add this mouse (holding cheese) to our Chinese New Year papercrafts, it's accompanied by two other creatures: a cute cat and boar. Kung Hei Fat Choi!

Chinese Zodiac Papercraft - HP(Hewlett-Packard)

The Chinese New Year papercrafts is a very popular one, we've posted several links to various designers and their creations for the past couple of weeks and it seems that there could be more coming. New content is available from the HP (Hewlett Packard) site, you might remember them as the one that brought us the Shrek papercraft a while back, now they've got their own version of the Chinese Zodiac papercraft. So far there's only 4 paper models available, which includes the dragon, pig, tiger and rat - there's no mention of the other zodiacs so we'll just keep you updated when and if they add them. You might want to also check out related posts such as post1, post2, and post3.

Year of the Rat Papercraft

According to the Chinese Zodiac, the Year 2008 is a Year of the Rat (Earth). It starts on February 7 (Chinese New Year) and ends on January 25, 2009. It says that the Rat Year is a time of renewal and hard work (sigh), that patience and making the most of every opportunity you can find are the key to success - at least for this year. Today, we have a set of paper models designed by Yasuyuki Wada of the Japanese site - Injan.net

The one in particular is the Year of the Rat papercraft which comes in 3 colors (cyan, magenta, yellow). There are two others that you can download, a ladybug beetle papercraft and a some sort of boar papercraft. All their models are free to download and are very easy to assemble.

Heavenly Military Officer Papercraft - Black

Here is a set of Chinese inspired/made papercrafts, featuring different heavenly deities and soldiers. They are made by Answer Ideas Studio, their paper models are intricately designed and require no glue for assembly - they've put tabs on strategic locations to hold the papercraft together. There's over 30 models on their site that you might want to check out, but I'll be sharing showing only one today, and the rest, on the following weeks to come. Wasn't sure if the designer intended for the models head to shake a bit or I did a poor assembly, either way I've got me a bobble head papercraft. Special thanks goes out to The Rube for finding this treasure trove.
