Hayabusa Tan Papercraft

The model was based on Hayabusa, an unmanned space mission led by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency to return a sample of material from a small near-Earth asteroid named 25143 Itokawa to Earth for further analysis. In November 2005 it landed on the asteroid and attempted to collect samples but failed to do so-wiki

Apollo 13 Diorama Papercraft

Here's a diorama depicting the Apollo 13 disaster. It was the third manned mission by NASA intended to land on the moon, but a mid-mission technical malfunction forced the lunar landing to be aborted. Its crew members were led by James A. Lovell wherein his radio transmission "Houston, we've had a problem", has become widely misquoted in popular culture as, "Houston, we have a problem".

International Space Station Papercraft

Here's your chance to build your own International Space Station papercraft. The International Space Station (ISS) is the largest and most complicated spacecraft ever built. It is being constructed by a collaboration of one hundred thousand people, hundreds of companies, and sixteen nations spread over four continents. This cool model is brought to you by CSIRO's Double Helix Science Club.

Satellite Papercrafts

Here are some nice looking satellite papercrafts. The one on top is the ConeXpress from Dutchspace. The second site has the GPS and Compass satellites which are are about 10" tall and 12" - 16 " wide and will take 1 - 2 hours to complete. They will also add the Glonass and the Galileo in the future.

Ariane 44LP Rocket Papercraft

Niels' latest model is the Ariane 4(44LP) rocket. Ariane is a series of a European civilian expendable launch vehicles for space launch use. The name comes from the French mythological character Ariadne.

The Ariane 4 is scaled at 1:96 with more than 200 parts and stands at 60cm high when built. The stages can be separated and includes internal parts. The payload section includes small models of the 3 satellites launched at the first flight. You can download Ariane 1-3 as well as his other space models.

SELENE(Kaguya) Lunar Space Orbiter Spacecraft Papercraft

SELENE (Selenological and Engineering Explorer) (Ancient Greek: Σελήνη, moon), better known in Japan by its nickname Kaguya (かぐや, Kaguya), is the second Japanese lunar orbiter spacecraft. Produced by the Institute of Space and Astronautical Science and NASDA (both organizations that are now part of the Japan Aero Space Exploration Agency, or JAXA), the spacecraft was launched September 14,2007-wiki
There are two models, the first is a colored but simplified version while the second is un-colored and a little bit complicated. The downloads are at the bottom.

Soyuz 3 and Fighter Plane Papercrafts

Soyuz 3 was the first manned launch of a Soyuz spacecraft since the accident that killed cosmonaut Vladimir Komarov on Soyuz 1. That ill-fated flight had been intended to rendezvous and dock with Soyuz 2; now Soyuz 3 with cosmonaut Georgi Beregovoi would attempt this goal-wiki

Hubble Space Telescope Papercraft

The Hubble Space Telescope (HST) is a telescope in orbit around the Earth, named after astronomer Edwin Hubble. Its position outside the Earth's atmosphere provides significant advantages over ground-based telescopes — images are not blurred by the atmosphere, there is no background from light scattered by air, and the Hubble can observe ultra-violet light that is normally absorbed by the ozone layer in observations made from Earth. Since its launch in 1990, it has become one of the most important instruments in the history of astronomy.

Make your very own hand-held Hubble telescope model. There are three levels of difficulties. The easiest is the PVC model which will require PVC pipes. The second is a paper model with 3o pieces of parts. Last but not the least is an expert papermodel with 300 pieces of parts that will require 30 hours to build. You have the option of also assembling the internal structure of the telescope, including the mirror and the instrument bay, which fits inside the external shell.

Chinese Space Models

I have featured Soviet and American real space models before. It's time for some Chinese models this time. The papercraft above is the Changzheng (Long March) 2F rocket, the longest and heaviest among all Chinese launch rockets wherein you have to print 5 pages of parts. The second is the Shenzhou (Divine Vessel) which is pretty simple with only 2 pages of parts.

Soviet Space Models

Real space modellers are in for a treat. More than a dozen of highly-detailed Soviet space launcher, rocket and satellite papercrafts. These models vary in scales and complexity. I'm thinking of building the Energia model which has about 27 pages of parts. Enjoy!
