The Kanmon Straits (関門海峡 Kanmon Kaikyō) or the Straits of Shimonoseki is the stretch of water separating two of Japan's four main islands. The Kanmon Straits can be crossed in a number of ways, the oldest of which are the ferries. You can download a simple papercraft of the Kanmon Kaikyo Ferry in the picture above. They call themselves Paper-Pro Modelling and they pride themselves in using the glue-less/tab/hinge technique. Although not an original concept or technique, they do implement it really well. Canon Creative Park (Japan) has released the hippopotamus papercraft on their Animal section. The name hippopotamus comes from the Greek word which means "river horse". The hippo is an extremely large African herbivore with a round body, short legs, and a big head. They are usually found in rivers and lakes. WALL·E Papercraft Robot
Designer Gary Pilsworth has released a WALL·E papercraft based on Pixar's new animated film coming out June 2008. WALL·E is short for Waste Allocation Load Lifter - Earth Class.
The year is 2700 and mankind has left Earth. After hundreds of lonely years of doing what he was built for, WALL·E the robot, discovers a new purpose in life when he meets a sleek search robot named EVE. She realizes that WALL·E has inadvertently stumbled upon the key to the planet's future, and races back to space to report her findings to the humans. Meanwhile, WALL·E chases EVE across the galaxy and sets an adventure into motion.

Canon Papercraft Update
Canon has added some nice papercrafts today. First is the Chinese Phoenix, a mythological bird, that is said to reign over all other winged creatures. It is known in Chinese as Fenghuang. The males are known as Feng and the females as Huang. They are said to be similar in appearance to a peacock. The paper model measures approx. 65cm in length and 60cm across.
The other new models include the cute mobile featuring a family of elephants dancing among the stars and a papercraft model of Mt. Fuji showing the mountain's volcanic structure.

Mecha Papercraft - Shigu
Not as detailed or as polished as the Front Mission Chokipeta version, this simplified mecha papercraft has a unique feature that I've only seen two or three times before in other paper models - it's got bones. By bones, I mean its got articulation points/hinges that enables it to move its arms and legs. You might recognize the look of the papercraft, it was based on the Zenith mecha from Front Mission 4. Two new Star Trek papercrafts have been posted at Paragon Cardmodels. The smaller one is the Hideki Class: The smallest of the Cardassian warships in service, they saw heavy use during the Dominion War. The other is a Groumall Type: The Cardassian freighter Gul Dukat used to capture a Klingon Bird of Prey after his demotion.
Latitude Zero: Black Shark Submarine Papercraft
Latitude Zero (緯度0大作戦, Ido zero daisakusen), is a 1969 tokusatsu film. It was directed by Ishiro Honda with special effects by Eiji Tsuburaya. Three men (Dr. Ken Tashiro, Dr. Jules Masson, and Perry Lawton) are trapped in a bathysphere due to seismic activity. They are rescued by the crew of the supersubmarine, Alpha, captained by Craig Mackenzie (Cotten), which they learn is over 200 years old (and that the Alpha was launched in the early 1800s). Mackenzie takes them to Latitude Zero to deal with the serious injuries of Dr Masson. While returning to LZ, they are attacked by a rival supersubmarine, the Black Shark, captained by Kuroi, who works for a rival of Mackenzie, Malic, who is also over 200 years old and has a base at Blood Rock-wiki

Nintendo Papercraft - Blue Falcon
Another old school Nintendo papercraft for today, this one is the Blue Falcon spacecraft based on the futuristic racing video game F-Zero. It was released for the Super NES console and was created by the Nintendo EAD (Entertainment Analysis and Development) group along with Shigeru Miyamoto (as producer). The papercraft pattern is an image file and is a bit on the small side, you might want to enlarge it before printing.
